This year’s NBA All-Star weekend not only featured a plethora of events in the sports and entertainment sphere, but it also gave exposure to local and nationwide black-owned fashion vendors.
On Saturday, Feb 15, Chicagorilla fashion brand, a clothing line owned by “Black Ink Crew: Chicago,” cast member Van Johnson, and Kevin Womack, served the windy city with a montage of fashion extravaganza at the Return of The Jungle fashion show.
From 12 p.m. through 6 p.m., over hundreds gathered at the Gold Room in the Congress Plaza Hotel & Convention Center to witness models display diverse fashion designs, jewelries, and foot wears from over 20 black owned vendors, including Black Child and Queenslay Clothing.
Hosted by Kat Tat, Caesar of Black Ink New York, and Goodz Da Animal, the event included pop-up shops, merchandise, live musical performances from local artists, as well as eateries from vendors like Essie Maries.
