Lori Lightfoot, Chicago’s first African-American, female mayor, will be a sworn-into office at the Wintrust Arena later this month.
On May 20, Lightfoot will be inaugurated at 10 a.m., along with 50 aldermen, including city Clerk Anna Valencia, according to a recent report by NBC Chicago. The ceremony will also showcase performances from Chicago Sinfonietta, Puerto Rican Arts, Latin Music Program and the Chicago Gay Men’s Chorus, an article from the Journal Star reports. Lightfoot and her wife, Amy Eshlement, will also be hosting an open house in City Hall after the ceremony at 2 p.m.
The inauguration ceremony will be free to the public and live-streamed. Tickets will available later this month.
