Beyonce and Jay-Z took over Chicago this weekend, delivering two back-to-back shows in Soldier Field, Friday and Saturday night, uniting the Beyhive and Roc Nation fans through their journey “On The Run.”
“Only love can conquer hate,” Jay-Z shouted in the crowd Friday night. “We’ve got to learn to love each other more. Everything is love.”
The power couple performed over 40 solo and collaborative hits both nights during their OTR II concert. Taking the audience through classics like ”99 problems,” “Upgrade U,” and “Forever Young,” while reiterating themes of love, equality, feminism through dynamic dancing and thought-provoking imagery.
The Carters also introduced a few new songs from their collaborative album, “Everything is Love,” including “Black Effect,” and “Nice,” ending the night with an enthusiastic crowd dancing to “Apes.”
